MERC conduct terrestrial habitat and species surveys using state of the art Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology and software, which allows the production of detailed habitat maps. Mapping is conducted in accordance with best practice guidance for habitat survey and mapping published by the Heritage Council of Ireland 2011 and other best practice guidelines as appropriate.

As Individual members of MERC staff are specialists in a range of different ecological disciplines, we can offer specialist experienced staff to cover the range of habitats that are likely to be encountered on individual projects. If necessary, additional specialists, who are recognised leaders in their field, work alongside MERC on particular projects to ensure all areas of required expertise are fully covered.
